french pink and white manicure

The french manicure (or pink and white) style of polish is probably one of the most simple to do, as well as being one of the easiest. Results are subtle, yet feminine and will suit any look!

Required Items:

  • Base Coat
  • Pink Nail Polish
  • White Nail Polish
  • Top Coat

First of all, you will need to apply a base coat, and leave this to dry for the required amount of time suggested by that particular brand. On top of this, you should apply one to two coats of pink nail polish – this can be as light ans subtle or bright and vibrant as you feel! After your pink polish is dry, apply one to two coats of white polish to the tips of each nail. Try to make sure that you have the correct amount of polish on your brush for each nail – too much polish or too little can ruin your nails in a matter of seconds! After your white polish has been left to dry for a few minutes (until touch dry), apply your top coat. Try not to go over the same area more than once or twice, as smudging may occur. A top coat should dry fairly quickly and your nails should be touch dry within around ten minutes and “safe” within half an hour.

The nail polish you use will definitely affect the results you see on your nails. Cheap polish can often take a long time to dry, which means that when applying layers, your polish may smudge and become uneven. If you are an impatient person, or inexperienced with painting nails, I highly recommend New York Color Quick Dry Nail Polish This will dry in around one minute. Another very good brand, though more expensive, is OPI.

Another thing you can do is just to buy a cheap pack of stick on nails. They will last up to a week and work well just for a photo shoot. They don’t look perfect, but in a photo shoot you would never know the difference (unless you are doing a shoot focused on your hands).
