Got a prom to go to? Fancy dinner with your other half’s parents? Whatever the occasion, plan ahead and guarantee you’ll look your best!
- Create a to-do-list – This is something I’d suggest to anyone, especially if you are forgetful. If you create a list of things you need to do, and when they need to be done, not only will you have a better chance of remembering to get things done, but you will also be more organised and, as a result, feel calmer.
- Pack your bag in advance – Using your to-do-list, think about what you might need in your bag. For example, if you think you may get pretty hot, put your perfume or body spray in your bag. That way, you won’t be caught out when you are there feeling silly for not bringing something so obvious.
- Wax/Pluck the day before – If you are going out, you want to look your best. However, if you wax/pluck your eyebrows (and other areas of your body) on the day you have your big night, you can end up with red, slightly irritated areas of skin. So, doing this the day before will help solve this issue! It will give your skin some time to calm down after the hair removal.
- Bring chap stick – I bring chap stick with me everywhere. If I’m going out and going to be wearing lipstick or lip gloss, I’ll bring that too. However, I still bring my chap stick because if I get tired of trying to keep my lips looking pretty (or if I’m having a meal), I’ll at least want them to feel good!
- Paint your nails in the morning – Have you ever decided to paint your nails in the evening, had it take a long time, then been unable to go to bed because the polish is still wet? Well, I’m disorganised, so it happens to me a lot! So, I always try and paint my nails in the morning, giving them longer to dry. I hate waking up with my nails ruined by the imprint of my pillow case.
- Match your eyeshadow to your accessories – Here’s an example. If you are wearing a red dress, and perhaps have silver shoes and matching bag, try and incorporate the silver colour into your eyeshadow. Don’t go overboard, but doing this will subtly draw attention to your eyes and accessories. If you were to wear red eye makeup with a red dress, this would be very bold, however I may be inclined to think it was too much of one colour. You can always have a play around with colours before the event to decide on your finished look.
- Wear comfortable shoes – I know a lot of women that love their shoes! I know that I am one of them. However, I won’t wear shoes if they are uncomfortable. Although the shoes may look lovely, the fact that they are hurting you will show in the way you walk. You may end up looking a little constipated! Oh, and make sure that the shoes fit, if people can see that they are too big or too small for you, then it will look quite tacky.
- Smile – Make sure you smile – humans like smiles! Make sure you don’t have anything stuck in your teeth, either. I would suggest whitening your teeth if need be (though it’s bad for your tooth enamel which, once gone, will never be replaced).
- False lashes – I am in love with false eyelashes! I would suggest that you wear very natural looking lashes. I always buy mine with a clear band, as they look even more natural. I don’t buy lashes that are overly thick or long, either. They tend to weigh a lot and look incredibly fake. This is great for some looks, but I prefer my eyelashes not to be the first thing people notice about me! Also, do a test wear of the lashes before the day. They can be annoying to put on at times, and can also feel strange if you’ve not worn them before.
- Posture and body language – Make sure that your shoulders are back with a straight back. This will make you look more confident and feminine, as well as looking more approachable. Also, make sure that your arms aren’t folded or held up in front of you. These positions are quite negative and as far as body language goes, tells others to leave you alone! Your arms can welcome people to talk to you, but can also be used as walls to keep people away.
